'Me and Earl and the Dying Girl' Raih Penghargaan Tertinggi

Jakarta - Sundance Film Festival 2015 menganugerahkan penghargaan tertinggi Grand Jury Prize in U.S. Dramatic pada film drama berjudul 'Me and Earl and the Dying Girl'. Selain itu, film arahan sutradara Alfonso Gomez-Rejon ini juga mendapatkan piala pilihan penonton.

"Aku ingin mendedikasikan ini untuk semua filmmaker muda di kampung halamanku di Laredo, Texas," kata Alfonso saat menerima penghargaan itu seperti dilansir Deadline, Senin (3/2).

'Me and Earl and the Dying Girl' bercerita tentang siswa sekolah menengah atas yang berteman dengan penderita leukimia stadium 4 di kelasnya. Film ini mendapatkan respons tinggi dari penonton selama penayangannya di festival tersebut. Perusahaan distributor film juga berebut untuk mendapatkan hak distribusi, yang kemudian jatuh kepada Fox Searchlight. Film tersebut dijadwalkan tayang tahun ini.

Sementara itu, 'The Wolfpack' menerima piala U.S. Documentary Grand Jury Prize dan 'Slow West' yang dibintangi Michael Fassbender mendapatkan penghargaan di kategori World Dramatic. 'The Russian Woodpecker' juga berhak membawa pulang penghargaan World Documentary.
